As per Hindu Scripts and according to legends, two Demons named as Shumbha and Nishumbha attacked and captured the kingdom of Lord Indra. On being refused, Shumbha sent his demon chiefs Chanda and Munda to kill her. Chandika Devi created Goddes Chamunda Avtaar (anger form of Goddess Chandika) and killed Chand Mund and then Shumbh Nishumbh.
