Vishwanath Temple, Guptkashi

At an elevation of 1319m above the sea level, Vishwanath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated in Guptkashi Town in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand State.  The Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi is very similar to Kashi Vishnath temple in holy city Varanasi.  Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishwanath Temple is a place where Lord Shiva proposed Goddess Parvati to marry him, however marriage ceremony is carried in Triyugi Narayan Temple in Rudraprayag district. Around 1km from Guptkashi Town, Vishwanath Temple was built by same architectural style as Kedarnath Temple with carved stones with wooden framed doors. At the top of entrance door, Image of Lord Bhairava and two entrance structured guards on both sides. It is believed by locals that if you are unable to visit Kashi Vishwanath, you can visit and take blessing from Vishwanath temple of Guptkashi. Thousands of travelers and devotees visits this place every year to take blessing from Lord Shiva.

The temple complex also offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Koteshwar Temple: Located about 45 kilometers from Vishwanath Temple, Koteshwar Temple is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River and offers a serene and peaceful environment for devotees.

Chopta: Known as the "Mini Switzerland of India," Chopta is a picturesque hill station situated around 36 kilometers from Vishwanath Temple. It offers breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks, lush meadows, and dense forests. Chopta is the starting point for treks to Tungnath (highest Shiva temple in the world) and Chandrashila Peak.

Tungnath Temple: Situated at an altitude of 3,680 meters, Tungnath Temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is a popular trekking destination. It is located around 39 kilometers from Vishwanath Temple and can be reached via a trek from Chopta. The temple holds immense religious significance and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
