Gidara Bugyal Trek – Less Explored Trek in Uttarkashi

Located at an elevation of 4206m above the sea level, Gidara Bugyal is a scenic trekking destination in Uttarkashi Distrcit of Uttarakhand State. Gidara Bugyal Trek is relatively less explored trekking trail and one of the best for those who want to connect with authentic nature of Himalays. The trek takes you through lush green meadows, dense forests, and offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks.

The Gidara Bugyal Trek is a moderate level trek that can be completed in 3-4 days. The trek starts from a small village called Bhangeli, which can be reached by road from Dehradun or Rishikesh. From Bhangeli Village, the trail leads you through dense forests of oak and rhododendron trees to the meadows of Gidara Bugyal.

The meadows of Gidara Bugyal offer breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks including Banderpunch, Gangotri. The trail further leads to the beautiful spot bakri ka Dera, which offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The best time to undertake the Gidara Bugyal Trek is from May to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear. During winters, the trek is not advisable due to heavy snowfall. If you are planning to trek for Gidara Bugyal, do hire local Guide or experienced Guide as Trek is moderately difficult and Survival in high altitude may be challenging without help and buddy support.

Day wise Itinerary to Gidara Bugyal Trek | Gidara Bugyal Trek Route Full Details

Here is Day wise Itinerary to Gidara Bugyal Trek:

 

Day 1: Dehradun to Bhangeli Village Village (188 km approx., 7 to 8 hours drive):

Start your journey from Dehradun to Bhangeli Village which is around 188 km distance. You can also use shared taxies or hire entire one. Direct shared taxi is not available for Bhangeli Village.

 

Day 2: Bhangeli Village to Dokrani Campsite via Rikoda (11 km, 6-7 hours)

Start your first day trek early morning with proper healthy breakfast from Bhangeli village to Dokrani Campsite. You will trek around 11 kilometers uphill between dense forest of Rhododendron, Deodar and Oak trees. After reaching campsite, pitch your tent there for overnight stay.

 

Day 3: Dokrani to Thalotya Campsite via Gidara Bugyal (9 km, 5 to 6 hours)

On the third day, you will trek to the Gidara Bugyal, which is situated at an altitude of 12,645 ft. The trek involves a steep ascent, but the views from the top are worth it. Trekkers can spend some time in Bugyal, taking in the panoramic views of the Himalayan range. After exploring, trek to Thalotya Campsite and stay overnight.

 

Day 4: Thalotya Campsite to Tirya Campsite via Gidara Summit (8 km, 5-6 hours)

On the fourth day, you will summit to Gidara Top, situated at an elevation of 13,898ft. After exploring Gidara Meadow and Himalayan range, start your trek towards Tirya Campsite. Overinght stay there

 

Day 5:  Tirya Campsite to Bhangeli Village (7km, 5-6 hours)

On the Fifth day, you will descend back to Bhangeli Village. After reaching Village, you can also explore Village aroun if you have enough time to explore around. Overnight stay there.

 

Day 6:  Dehradun to Bhangeli Village (188 km approx., 7 to 8 hours):

Drive back to Dehradun with sweet memories of Gidara Bugyal Trek.

The best time to explore Gidara Bugyal Trek is during the summer and autumn months, from May to June and September to November. During this time, the weather is pleasant with clear skies, and the meadows are covered in lush greenery and wildflowers.

In the summer months, the temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C during the day, making it comfortable for trekking. The views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks are also clearer during this time. However, it can get chilly at night, so carrying warm clothing is necessary.

In the autumn months, the weather is dry and clear, and the temperatures range from 5°C to 15°C during the day. The autumn months are also an excellent time to witness the changing colors of the leaves and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

It’s better to avoid travelling during Monsoon, if you are still planning to visit during monsoon – be update with roads and weather condition. It is not recommended to visit Gidara Bugyal Trek during the winter months, from December to February, due to heavy snowfall and harsh weather conditions. The trek is also closed during this time.

  1. During the trek, there will be places to stay in Camps or Tents (Camping)
  2. At Trek, all meals will be provided ( Healthy Food)
  3. At Camps, Bonfire will be provided according to weather conditions.
  4. For the Trek, there is fees for trekking permits and forest campsites.
  5. Trekking Supplies (Tents, Sleeping Bags, Ice Axes, Ropes, etc.)
  6. Expert Trek Leaders will there to Guide (Certified in basic/advanced mountaineering courses)
  7. A skilled trek crew (Guides, Chefs, Assistants, porters/mules) is available.
  8. Protective Gear (First Aid Kit, Medical Kit, Oxygen cylinders (if necessary), stretcher, etc.)
  9. Trek Certificate for Completion.
  10. Basic Survival Techniques in forest by using natural resources etc.

  2. Offloading Fees for Backpacks (Rs.250 Per day/Per bag)
  3. Food on the way to Base and from Pick and Drop

Cancellation Policy

At the time of booking, full payment is required.

For the Cancellation due to any reasons, Uttarakhand Guide must be notified of the same in writing at uttarakhandguide@gmail.com. At the time we receive your written cancellation statement, refunds policies will be applicable according to following conditions:

 

Cancellation before 30 days from the start of Trip

10 % will be deducted from total

 

Cancellation between 21 to 30 Days from start of Trip

35 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation between 10 to 21 Days from start of Trip

50 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation less than 10 days from start of Trip

No amount will be refunded

 

Note: After the cancellation date, the refund will be handled within 10 working days.

Cancellation fees will be determined based on the total trip cost, and they may vary depending on the date of departure and the date of cancellation.

 

There will be no refunds:

  • For any missed/unused tour services, including meals, owing to any reason.
  • If the tour's services are changed, altered, revised, cancelled, or not used.
  • If a customer cancels or is forced to cancel the tour due to changes in the itinerary or travel
