Day wise Itinerary to Baraadsar Lake Trek 2024
Day 1: Pickup from Dehradun railway station and drive to Khanyasni camp

Uttarakhand Guide provides transportation for trekkers from Dehradun Railway Station in the morning, departing for Khanyasni camp between 6:00 am to 7:00 am.
Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, is renowned for its stunning landscapes. Along the journey, you'll traverse Rajpur road, offering glimpses of Dehradun's charm. After about an hour, you'll reach Mussoorie, often referred to as the "Queen of Hills," popular among families and friends vacationing together.
A brief stop of about half an hour at Kempty Falls allows for breakfast amidst a diverse crowd. Enjoy the scenic views of the peaks and the nearby Yamuna River. If desired, take a 20-minute break to soak in the surroundings.
Continuing on, pass through the quaint markets of Nainbagh, Damta, and Naugaon. Arrive at Purola around 1:30 pm for lunch. After lunch, proceed to Sankri via Jarmola, where the backdrop of Kedarkantha comes into view. Traverse the picturesque zigzag road amidst the pine forests of Jarmola.
Upon reaching Mori, approximately an hour later, you'll encounter a check post at Naitwar. Finally, arrive at the Khanyasni campsite, where you can enjoy tea or snacks.
Day 2: Trek from Khanyasni camp to Sarutal camp
Total distance – 5 km – 3/4 hours journey

Altitude – Sarutal camp – 2000 meters
Accommodation – Twin share basis at our campsite
After breakfast, commence your trek by following the right bank of the Rupin River (at an altitude of 1500 meters) towards Pujali and Bitri village. Bitri, situated at an altitude of 2000 meters, boasts numerous apple orchards and fields.
As you traverse through Bitri, you'll witness the traditional values and local life of the villagers, who engage in wheat and red rice cultivation. The trail then leads you through dense pine forests, offering glimpses of the Himachal Mountains and the Changsheel valley from the vantage point of Bitri village.
Continuing onwards, we'll set up our camps about a kilometer further at the expansive meadow of Sarutal. After setting up camp and enjoying a meal, retire for the night.
Day 3: Trek from Sarutal camp to Badang camp
Trek Distance – 8 km – 5/6 hours journey
Mode of transportation – On foot
Altitude – Badang camp – 2600 meters
Accommodation – Twin share basis at our campsite
After breakfast at the camp, begin your trek towards Badang camp. A high ridge separates the valleys of Rupin and Supin, offering panoramic views of the mountains.
To the north, you'll catch sight of the peaks of Himachal, including the distinctive four-peaked mountain Swargarohini. Traverse dense forest sections and gradually ascend in altitude. Along the meandering course, the Rupin and Supin Rivers come into view, with intermittent streams providing opportunities for breaks.
Badang welcomes you with its expansive green meadow, serving as an excellent camping spot. Set up your camps and retire for the night.
Day 4: Trek from Badang camp via Vijay Top (3800 Meters) to Dhaldhar camp

After breakfast, embark on your trek to Dhaldhar camp via Vijay Top, situated at an altitude of 3700 meters. The ascent to the top is steep, offering mesmerizing views of snow-covered mountains and breathtaking vistas of Vishkhopri, Obra Valley, and Khimloga Pass. Take in the panoramic views before continuing to Dhaldhar camp.
Day 4 marks the beginning with renewed vigor. This leg of the journey covers approximately 13 km. The climb to Vijay Top, nearing 3700 meters, is the highlight of the day. The landscape remains picturesque with streams, trees, and meadows adorned with flowers of various hues. Towering peaks punctuate the horizon, while clouds and mist add a mystical allure as they drift in and out, obscuring the sun behind dark clouds. Upon reaching Vijay Top, the awe-inspiring vista makes the trek worthwhile, with a total of 3.5 hours spent on this leg of the journey.
Dhaldhar awaits as the day's destination—a ridge campsite nestled amidst expansive meadows, offering an ideal camping spot. Set up your camps and retire for the night.
Day 5: Trek from Dhaldhar camp to Devbasa camp
Trek Distance – 6 km – 2/3 hours journey

Altitude – Devbasa camp – 3650 meters

The morning vistas from Dhaldhar are breathtaking, with the rising sun casting a golden hue upon the peaks, enhancing their beauty like never before. Rise early to witness the sunrise from this elevated vantage point. After enjoying the spectacle, have breakfast at the camp and set out for Devbasa, our next campsite, reachable in 2/3 hours.
From Dhaldhar camp, traverse from one mountain ridge to another, strolling through meadows for approximately 30 minutes. As you proceed further, be greeted by spectacular views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Nalgan. Walking along the ridge for over four hours, you'll encounter abundant Rhododendrons, with the peaks looming ahead, offering a scenic 180-degree panorama.
Continuing onwards, navigate some descents and cross ridge after ridge until reaching Devbasa after about an hour. This area is characterized by its flat and rocky terrain, serving as the meeting point of two mountains. The campsite is windy due to its high altitude and rocky surroundings. From Devbasa, the trail to Baraadsar is visible.
Set up your tents, unwind in the tranquil surroundings, and prepare for tomorrow's challenging trek. Enjoy dinner and spend the night in your tents, bracing for the adventures that lie ahead.
Day 6: Trek from Devbasa camp to Baraadsar Lake, explore the beautiful lake and surrounding high-altitude mountain range, then return to camp

Today's trek entails the longest journey, spanning a rugged trail from Devbasa to the picturesque meadow of Baraadsar. You have the option of choosing between two routes. The shorter route involves a steep ascent and crossing a pass directly to reach the campsite, while the longer route circumnavigates the mountain, leading to the campsite approximately 3 hours away. Choose the route according to your capabilities.
The trail is of moderate difficulty, characterized by rocks and large boulders. On the other side of the ridge, you'll encounter a rocky path, necessitating a ridge climb. The weather in this region is extremely cold, so ensure you carry adequate woolen clothing.
From the Baraadsar ridge, you'll catch a distant glimpse of Baraadsar Lake, nestled amidst high ridges and snow-capped mountains. Trek to the awe-inspiring "Wish Fulfilling Lake," Baraadsar Lake, situated at an altitude of 4,300 meters and revered by the locals. This trek to the pristine lake is relatively unknown to many, adding to its allure. Spend some time soaking in the serenity of Baraadsar Lake before retracing your steps back to Devbasa camp.
Day 7: Trek from Devbasa camp via Lower Sural to Kasla, then drive to Sankri Hotel
Trek Distance – 44 km – 8/9 hours journey
Mode of transportation – On foot (15 km), by taxi (29 km)
Altitude – Sankri – 1920 meters
Accommodation – Hotel – twin share basis
After breakfast, depart early and commence your trek. Initially, make your way to Lower Sural, where the descent is steep. Traverse through meadows and enter a pine forest, trekking under the cool shade of the trees.
As you emerge from the forest, you'll encounter fields of Rajma (kidney beans) and wheat, signaling your arrival at Rahla village. Observe the locals working in the fields and herds of sheep grazing peacefully. Take a break here to enjoy lunch before continuing your trek towards Kasla village. The descent from Rahla to Kasla is relatively easy, with numerous streams dotting the landscape.
The final stretch of the trail involves an uphill climb, taking approximately 1 hour to reach Kasla. From Kasla, a vehicle awaits to transport you to Sankri, a beautiful destination renowned for its mini-market and serving as the base camp for many treks. Take in the scenic beauty of Sankri, relish a hearty dinner, and enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun by taxi
Distance – 210 km – 8/9 hours journey

Today marks your last breakfast with our team. Certificates will be awarded, and we'll capture some memorable photos before bidding farewell to everyone from Sankri.
