Devprayag – Confluence of Holy River Alaknanda and Bhagirathi

Devprayag is a small town located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, which then form the holy river Ganges. The town is considered a sacred place by Hindus and is believed to be the place where Lord Rama meditated after defeating Ravana.

The town is known for its ancient temples and shrines, including the Raghunath Temple, the Chandrabadni Temple, and the Danda Naggaraja Temple. The Raghunath Temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and is believed to have been built during the 8th century. The temple houses an idol of Lord Rama along with other deities.

The Chandrabadni Temple is a famous tourist attraction and holy prigrimage site dedicated to Goddess Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva is around 33 km from Devprayag Town. The temple is believed to be the place where the torso of Sati fell after she immolated herself. The Danda Naggaraja Temple is another famous tourist attraction which is around 28 km from Devprayag located in pauri garhwal region and is dedicated to the Nagas or the serpent deities.
