Makkumath – Winter Seat of Shri Tungnath

At an elevation of 2100m above the sea level, Makkumath Village is situated in Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand State. Makkumath village is where Makkumath Temple is situated that is popularly known for winter seat of Tungnath Mahadev. Surrounded by dense forest of Oak, Pine and Deodar trees, Makkumath is located around 44 km from Rudraprayag City.

If you are planning to visit Tungnath Temple during winters, you can take “Darshan” in Makkumath Temple as Idol of Lord Tungnath shifts from original place to Makkumath temple due to heavy snow fall and further after you can trek Tungnath temple and Chandrashila. Idol of Lord Tungnath remains in Makkumath Temple from November to April Month and remain in Tungnath Temple from May to October Month. Thousands of devotees visits every year in Makkumath to take blessing from Lord Tungnath and asks God to fulfil their wishes.
