Gandhi Sarovar Trek – Chorabari Lake

Gandhi Sarovar also known as Chorabari Lake is a picturesque lake located near Kedarnath in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The trek to Gandhi Sarovar from Rishikesh can take around 8-10 days, depending on your fitness level and trekking experience. Here's a day-wise trekking route to Gandhi Sarovar from Rishikesh:

 

Day 1: Rishikesh to Gaurikund (drive) - 8-9 hours Start early from Rishikesh and drive to Gaurikund, which is the base camp for the trek to Kedarnath. The drive takes around 8-9 hours and covers a distance of around 220 km. You will pass through the towns of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Guptkashi on the way. Overnight stay in Gaurikund.

 

Day 2: Gaurikund to Kedarnath (trek) - 14 km, 6-7 hours Start early in the morning and begin the trek to Kedarnath. The trek is a gradual ascent and covers a distance of 14 km. You will pass through lush green forests, cascading waterfalls, and meadows. The trek ends at Kedarnath, where you can visit the famous Kedarnath temple. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

 

Day 3: Rest day in Kedarnath - Acclimatization This day is reserved for acclimatization in Kedarnath. You can explore the town and visit nearby places, such as Bhairavnath temple, Gandhi Sarovar, and Vasuki Tal. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

 

Day 4: Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal (trek) - 6 km, 3-4 hours Start early in the morning and trek to Vasuki Tal, which is a beautiful high-altitude lake situated at an altitude of 4,150 meters. The trek is steep and challenging, and you will pass through rocky terrain and narrow ridges. Overnight stay in tents near Vasuki Tal.

 

Day 5: Vasuki Tal to Kedarnath (trek) - 6 km, 3-4 hours After breakfast, start the trek back to Kedarnath. The trek is mostly downhill, and you will pass through lush green forests and meadows. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

 

Day 6: Kedarnath to Gandhi Sarovar (trek) - 8 km, 6-7 hours Start early in the morning and trek to Gandhi Sarovar. The trek is steep and challenging, and you will pass through rocky terrain and glaciers. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Kedarnath, Kedar Dome, and Chaukhamba. Overnight stay in tents near Gandhi Sarovar.

 

Day 7: Gandhi Sarovar to Kedarnath (trek) - 8 km, 6-7 hours After breakfast, start the trek back to Kedarnath. The trek is mostly downhill, and you will pass through glaciers and rocky terrain. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

 

Day 8: Kedarnath to Gaurikund (trek) - 14 km, 4-5 hours Start early in the morning and trek back to Gaurikund. The trek is mostly downhill, and you will pass through lush green forests and meadows. Overnight stay in Gaurikund.

 

Day 9: Gaurikund to Rishikesh (drive) - 8-9 hours Drive back to Rishikesh, which takes around 8-9 hours. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.

Note: This is a challenging trek that involves a significant amount of altitude gain and may not be suitable for beginners. It is essential to be properly acclimatized and physically fit before embarking on this trek

Best Time to Visit

Best time to visit Gandhi Sarovar | Best time to explore Chorabari Lake

The best time to visit Gandhi Sarovar is during the summer months from May to June and the autumn months from September to October. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the skies are clear, making it an ideal time for trekking and outdoor activities.

During the monsoon months from July to August, the region receives heavy rainfall, which can cause landslides and roadblocks, making it difficult to access Gandhi Sarovar. Therefore, it's not advisable to visit during this time.

During the winter months, from November to April, Gandhi Sarovar remains covered in snow, and the trek is closed for devotees and travellers.

  2. At Trek, all meals will be provided ( Healthy Food)
  3. At Camps, Bonfire will be provided according to weather conditions.
  4. For the Trek, there is fees for trekking permits and forest campsites.
  5. Trekking Supplies (Tents, Sleeping Bags, Ice Axes, Ropes, etc.)
  6. Expert Trek Leaders will there to Guide (Certified in basic/advanced mountaineering courses)
  7. A skilled trek crew (Guides, Chefs, Assistants, porters/mules) is available.
  8. Protective Gear (First Aid Kit, Medical Kit, Oxygen cylinders (if necessary), stretcher, etc.)
  9. Trek Certificate for Completion.
  10. Basic Survival Techniques in forest by using natural resources etc.

Cancellation Policy

At the time of booking, full payment is required.

For the Cancellation due to any reasons, Uttarakhand Guide must be notified of the same in writing at uttarakhandguide@gmail.com. At the time we receive your written cancellation statement, refunds policies will be applicable according to following conditions:

 

Cancellation before 30 days from the start of Trip

10 % will be deducted from total

 

Cancellation between 21 to 30 Days from start of Trip

35 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation between 10 to 21 Days from start of Trip

50 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation less than 10 days from start of Trip

No amount will be refunded

 

Note: After the cancellation date, the refund will be handled within 10 working days.

Cancellation fees will be determined based on the total trip cost, and they may vary depending on the date of departure and the date of cancellation.

 

There will be no refunds:

  • For any missed/unused tour services, including meals, owing to any reason.
  • If the tour's services are changed, altered, revised, cancelled, or not used.
  • If a customer cancels or is forced to cancel the tour due to changes in the itinerary or travel
