Mukta Top Trek

Mukta Top is a high-altitude meadow located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. Situated at an elevation of 3,685 meters above sea level, the trek to Mukta Top is a challenging yet rewarding experience for trekkers, offering stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and valleys.

The trek to Mukta Top starts from the picturesque village of Malla, which is around 200 kilometers from Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand. The route passes through dense forests of oak and rhododendron, rocky terrain, and steep ascents. Trekkers need to be physically fit and well-prepared for the trek as it involves a steep climb of around 1,600 meters.

The trail offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of Bandarpunch, Kala Nag, and Gangotri, along with the beautiful valleys of Bhagirathi and Tons. The meadow is also known for its vibrant alpine flowers such as Himalayan blue poppy, Himalayan primrose, and Himalayan bellflower.

At the summit of Mukta Top, trekkers can witness a 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges, including the Gangotri group of peaks, Kedarnath, and Yamunotri. The meadow is surrounded by a snow-covered mountain range, and on clear days, one can see as far as the peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul. Mukta Top Trek Route Full Detail | Day wise Itinerary for Mukta Top Trek

Mukta Top is a high-altitude meadow located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. Situated at an elevation of 3,685 meters above sea level, the trek to Mukta Top is a challenging yet rewarding experience for trekkers, offering stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and valleys. Here is a day-wise itinerary for trekking to Mukta Top:

 

Day 1: Dehradun to Kaflon Village (210 km)

The first day involves driving from Dehradun to Kaflon village. The drive takes around 8-9 hours, passing through beautiful valleys and mountainous landscapes. Upon reaching Kaflon village, trekkers can rest and acclimatize to the altitude.

 

Day 2: Kaflon to Shiladhuni (Distance: 4 km, Time Taken: 4 hours)

The trek starts from Kaflon village, and the trail passes through dense forests of oak and rhododendron.  You will reach Shiladhuni, set your tent and rest there for night.

 

Day 3: Shiladhuni to Chaitathar (Distance: 5 km, Time Taken: 5 hours)

The third day involves trekking from Shiladhuni Campsite to Chaitathar and total distance for today is around 5km and one can cover within 5 hours. Set your tent in Chaitathar and stay for night.

 

Day 4: Chaitathar to Mukta Tal (Distance: 4 km, Time Taken: 4 hours)

The fourth day involves trekking to the Mukta Tal from Chaitathar. Trail passes through mini meadowns and dense forest of rhodendron, oaks and pine trees. After reaching, set your tent there are prepare yourself for next day for summit

 

Day 5: Mukta Tal to Mukta Top and back (Dist.: 9km, Time Taken: 7-8 hours)

On the fifth day you will summit to Mukta Top where you will love to explore beautiful views of Himalayan peaks including bandarpoonch, Kalanaag, nag Tibba etc. After expore Mukta Top abd nearby surroundings, start your trek back to Mukta Tal. Set your tent there for night

 

Day 5: Mukta Tal to Kaflon Village (Distance: 13km, Time Taken: 4 to 5 hours)

The final day involves trekking back from Kuflon Village which is 13 km from Mukta Tal. After reaching kaflon Village, rest for night in Village and dinner

 

Day 6: Kaflon Village to Dehradun (210 km)

On the last day, trekkers drive back to Dehradun, passing through beautiful valleys and mountainous landscapes. The drive takes around 8-9 hours, and trekkers can enjoy the scenic beauty of Uttarakhand on the way back.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to explore the Mukta Top Trek is during the months of May-June and September-October.

During May-June, the weather is generally clear and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 10-20°C. The snow starts melting during this time, and the trek becomes accessible. The flowers are in full bloom during this season, making it a perfect time for nature lovers and photographers.

It is not recommended to go on this trek during the monsoon season, from July to August, as the region experiences heavy rainfall, which can make the trekking trails slippery and dangerous. If you are still planning to visit during monsoon, be update with raods and weather conditions.

During the winter months, from December to February, the region experiences heavy snowfall, making it difficult to trek. You if love to explore Snowfall and love to trek in snow covered trails, months between Decembers to February is the best time to explore Mukta Top Trek during winters.

  3. At Camps, Bonfire will be provided according to weather conditions.
  4. For the Trek, there is fees for trekking permits and forest campsites.
  5. Trekking Supplies (Tents, Sleeping Bags, Ice Axes, Ropes, etc.)
  6. Expert Trek Leaders will there to Guide (Certified in basic/advanced mountaineering courses)
  7. A skilled trek crew (Guides, Chefs, Assistants, porters/mules) is available.
  8. Protective Gear (First Aid Kit, Medical Kit, Oxygen cylinders (if necessary), stretcher, etc.)
  9. Trek Certificate for Completion.
  10. Basic Survival Techniques in forest by using natural resources etc.

At the time of booking, full payment is required.

For the Cancellation due to any reasons, Uttarakhand Guide must be notified of the same in writing at uttarakhandguide@gmail.com. At the time we receive your written cancellation statement, refunds policies will be applicable according to following conditions:

 

Cancellation before 30 days from the start of Trip

10 % will be deducted from total

 

Cancellation between 21 to 30 Days from start of Trip

35 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation between 10 to 21 Days from start of Trip

50 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation less than 10 days from start of Trip

No amount will be refunded

 

Note: After the cancellation date, the refund will be handled within 10 working days.

Cancellation fees will be determined based on the total trip cost, and they may vary depending on the date of departure and the date of cancellation.

 

There will be no refunds:

  • For any missed/unused tour services, including meals, owing to any reason.
  • If the tour's services are changed, altered, revised, cancelled, or not used.
  • If a customer cancels or is forced to cancel the tour due to changes in the itinerary or travel
