The Sunderdhunga Glacier trek is a popular adventure activity among trekkers and nature enthusiasts. The trek takes you through a picturesque valley filled with alpine meadows, dense forests, and glistening waterfalls. Here is a possible day-wise itinerary for the Sunderdhunga Glacier trek:

 

Day 1: Kathgodam to Loharkhet (210 km, 10-11 hours)

The trek starts from the village of Loharkhet, which can be reached by road from the town of Kathgodam. The journey takes around 10-11 hours and passes through several small villages and towns.

 

Day 2: Loharkhet to Dhakuri (11 km, 5-6 hours)

Today's trek takes you through a forested trail to Dhakuri, a scenic meadow that offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

 

Day 3: Dhakuri to Khati (10 km, 5-6 hours)

Today, you'll trek through several small villages and cross several streams before reaching the village of Khati. Khati is a small village located on the banks of the Pindar River and is known for its ancient wooden temples.

 

Day 4: Khati to Kathaliya (20 km, 8-9 hours)

Today's trek takes you through dense forests of oak and rhododendron to the village of Jatoli and Kathaliya. Kathaliya is located on the banks of the Sunderdhunga River and is known for its beautiful camping sites.

 

Day 5: Kathaliya to Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek and back to Khaliya (15 km, 8-9 hours)

Today is the most challenging day of the trek as you'll trek to the Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek Valley after crossing Bailuni Top and back. The trek takes you through rocky terrain and steep slopes, but the views of the glacier are well worth the effort. After exploring Sunderdhunga Glacier start your trail back to kathaliya and set your tent there for night.

 

Day 6: Kathaliya to Khati (20 km, 8-9 hours)

Today, you'll retrace your steps back to the village of Khati from Kathaliya by crossing rocky trails and Jatoli Village.

 

Day 7: Khati to Loharkhet (20 km, 9-10 hours)

The final day of the trek takes you back to the village of Loharkhet, where the trek ends.

 

Day 8: Loharkhet to Kathgodam (210km, 7 to 8 hours drive)

Drive back to Kathgodam with sweet and memorable moments of Kafni Glacier Trek.

The best time to explore the Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek is during the summer months of May to June and September to October, when the weather is pleasant and the trekking conditions are favorable. During these months, the skies are clear, and the temperature is moderate, making it an ideal time to explore the stunning beauty of the Sunderdhunga valley.

It is also worth noting that the monsoon season, which occurs from July to August, is not a good time to explore the Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek due to the heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides and flash floods. If you are still planning to visit during monsoon season be update with roads and weather condition.

During the winter months of December to March, Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek is covered in snow, making it difficult to trek. The temperatures also drop to sub-zero levels, making it unsafe for trekkers to venture out. Therefore, it is not recommended to explore the Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek during the winter months.

  1. During the trek, there will be places to stay in Camps or Tents (Camping)
  2. At Trek, all meals will be provided ( Healthy Food)
  3. At Camps, Bonfire will be provided according to weather conditions.
  4. For the Trek, there is fees for trekking permits and forest campsites.
  5. Trekking Supplies (Tents, Sleeping Bags, Ice Axes, Ropes, etc.)
  6. Expert Trek Leaders will there to Guide (Certified in basic/advanced mountaineering courses)
  7. A skilled trek crew (Guides, Chefs, Assistants, porters/mules) is available.
  8. Protective Gear (First Aid Kit, Medical Kit, Oxygen cylinders (if necessary), stretcher, etc.)
  9. Trek Certificate for Completion.
  10. Basic Survival Techniques in forest by using natural resources etc.

  1. GST (Service Tax)
  2. Offloading Fees for Backpacks (Rs.250 Per day/Per bag)
  3. Food on the way to Base and from Pick and Drop

Cancellation Policy

At the time of booking, full payment is required.

For the Cancellation due to any reasons, Uttarakhand Guide must be notified of the same in writing at uttarakhandguide@gmail.com. At the time we receive your written cancellation statement, refunds policies will be applicable according to following conditions:

 

Cancellation before 30 days from the start of Trip

10 % will be deducted from total

 

Cancellation between 21 to 30 Days from start of Trip

35 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation between 10 to 21 Days from start of Trip

50 % will be deducted

 

Cancellation less than 10 days from start of Trip

No amount will be refunded

 

Note: After the cancellation date, the refund will be handled within 10 working days.

Cancellation fees will be determined based on the total trip cost, and they may vary depending on the date of departure and the date of cancellation.

 

There will be no refunds:

  • For any missed/unused tour services, including meals, owing to any reason.
  • If the tour's services are changed, altered, revised, cancelled, or not used.
  • If a customer cancels or is forced to cancel the tour due to changes in the itinerary or travel
