Kasar Devi Temple, Almora

At an elevation of 2116 m above the sea level, Kasar Devi Temple is situated in Almora District of Uttarakhand State. Kasar Devi is located at the Hilltop of Kaashay hills of Kumaon Region. This temple is around 10 km from Almora town, one can hike from main town to Kasar Devi Village. Temple Consist of two different group of temple, one is for Goddess Kasar Devi and another one is for Lord Shiva and Bhairava. Hill top of Kasar Devi Temple provides panoramic views of valley and Himalayas that makes this place perfect for meditation and Relaxation.

History of Kasar Devi Temple, Almora

Kasar Devi Temple is mentioned in several books which was written dated back. During 1890s, Swami Vivekananda Visited here and meditate for some days and shared his written experience in dairies. Many of other legends who mentioned this temple with their experience and some of them visited and meditate here for long term.

Kasar Devi Temple is very famous Kasar Devi Fair since temple became known, held every year during November or December Month on the occasion of Kartik Poornima in the Hindu calendar.
