Garud Tal – Nainital

At an Elevation of 1371 m aove the Sea Level, Garud Tal also known as “Rakshash Tal” or “Demon Lake” is situated in district Nainital of Uttarakhand State in Kumaon Region. Around 22km from Nainital City, Garud Tal is one of the Seven Lakes – “Sat Tal” namely known as Purna Tal, Ram Tal, Sita Tal, Laxman Tal, Nal Damyanti Tal, and Sukh Tal. According to legends, History of this Lake is connected with Epic Mahabharata as a stament that it is the same lake where Dharma tests Pandava brothers  when they come to drink water durig their exicle days. During this test only Yudhisthira among five bothers passes Dharma’s test.
