Joshimath: Winter seat of Shri Badrinath Dham

Joshimath is one of the popular hill Station situated at an elevation of 1890m from the sea level in Chamoli district of Garhwal Region, Uttarakhand. Also known as Jyotirmath, Joshimath is those places where one of the Maths was established by Guru Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. It is also the winter seat of Lord Badri Whose idol is traversed from Badrinath temple to Vasudeva temple here.

Among the beautiful attractions of Joshimath includes a temple dedicated to Lord Narashima (Incarnaton of Lord Vishnu). Many devotees visit here to take blessing from Lord Vishnu. Joshimath is also known as Gateway of Shri Badrinath Dham (46 km approx. distance) and Auli (Mini Switzerland -15 km).

Skiing: Auli, located just 13 km from Joshimath, is a popular skiing destination in India. You can take skiing lessons and enjoy skiing down the snow-covered slopes.

Cable Car Ride: The Auli Ropeway is one of the longest cable car rides in India. It takes you from Joshimath to Auli and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Best Time to Visit

Best time to visit Joshimath Hill Station | Best time to explore Joshimath 

The best time to visit Joshimath is during the summer months, from April to June and the autumn months, from September to November. During these months, the weather is pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities like trekking, camping, and wildlife safaris. The temperature during the day ranges from 15°C to 25°C, making it comfortable to explore the town and its surroundings.

If you are interested in skiing, the winter months from December to March are the best time to visit Joshimath. During this time, the town is covered with snow, and the Auli ski resort is open for skiing and other winter sports.

The monsoon season, from July to August, is not the ideal time to visit Joshimath as heavy rainfall can lead to landslides and road closures. However, if you are interested in exploring the lush greenery and the waterfalls that come alive during this time, you can plan your visit accordingly.
